About

I'm Jennifer, a landscape watercolor painter based in Rochester, NY. My love for the landscape was born out of a childhood spent outdoors. I grew up in the Finger Lakes and spent many summers in the Adirondack Mountains,  which left a long-standing love for the mountains and moody landscapes that can be found in much of my work today.

I was classically trained in art at FLCC (2007) and SUNY Geneseo (2009), but it wasn't until my senior year while pursuing a Bachelor's of Fine Arts that I discovered watercolor. I eagerly set my oil paints aside for the spontaneity and freedom that watercolors allowed.

Although creating remained an important part of my life, I switched gears to focus on a Master's in Social Work from Robert's Wesleyan College (2012). But then, with all the changes that occurred in 2020, I was given the gift of space and time to paint again and I immersed myself in the process I loved. I launched my business, Evergreenman (now J.E. Greenman) in July 2020 and began selling my work online and in person.

What I'm known for are my impressionist-style landscape paintings. I find joy in loose brushwork, eloquent color schemes and landscapes that are as innumerable and as changing as human emotions.

What inspires me and gives my work focus is the connection between myself as a creator with paint and brush and The Creator who spoke life into the landscapes of this world. It is my hope and intention that my art will draw attention not to myself as an artist with feeble attempts to create, but to The Artist who is endlessly creating beautiful things for us.
